  • Adherence to Traffic Laws: The same rules that apply to motorized vehicles also govern cyclists. This includes obeying all traffic signs, signals, road markings, and speed limits.

  • Prohibited Areas for Cyclists: Riding on sidewalks, the Kuntz overpass, and on O'Malley Avenue between Apollo Avenue and the Kuntz Avenue exit is strictly forbidden. Bicyclists are also not allowed to use crosswalks, sidewalks, driveways, or any areas not designated as traffic lanes to bypass traffic control devices.

  • Intersection Protocol: Upon approaching an intersection with a crosswalk, cyclists must dismount and walk their bikes through.

  • High Congestion Areas: Special attention is required around Mokulele and Hickam Elementary Schools, especially before and after school hours, as well as near the bicycle parking area by Aupaka Gate. Understanding and respecting traffic laws in these areas are crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring everyone's safety.

  • Lighting and Visibility: For night-time cycling, your bike must be equipped with a front light visible from 200 feet away and a rear red light that can also be seen from a distance of 200 feet.
